New York's Finest (Lauren Layne) Books in Order

Despite the title and the original covers, New York's Finest is not really a suspense series. It is a romance series about three NYPD brothers, with plenty of family teasing, city energy, and heat.

The Moretti brothers anchor the books. Frisk Me follows Luc, whose hero moment on camera turns him into a media story and puts him on a collision course with reporter Ava. Steal Me gives Anthony a romance with Maggie, a waitress who becomes a key witness. Cuff Me shifts to Vincent and Jill, partners whose years of closeness and unspoken feeling make for the most slow-burning setup of the bunch.

The sibling banter carries a lot of weight here.

Because each book is about a different brother, the series keeps a strong family thread without feeling repetitive. These men love one another, annoy one another, and constantly get pulled into each other's lives. That warmth keeps the books feeling like romance first, even when the jobs bring in danger, press attention, or witness problems.

The setting is firmly New York. Newsrooms, police work, restaurants, apartments, and busy city streets give the books motion, but the real tension comes from personality clashes and withheld feelings. Luc is suddenly public. Anthony is rigid about duty. Vincent has waited far too long.

If you want Layne's usual banter and emotional payoff, just with cops instead of media people or financiers, this series delivers. It is steamy, fast-moving, and very readable, with Cuff Me especially strong for readers who like a lot of yearning.
