Series background & context

The Wedding Belles series turns weddings into a full-time setting, not just a backdrop. These books revolve around an elite Manhattan wedding planning company and the people in its orbit, which means every romance comes with timelines, flowers, clients, family pressure, and at least a little chaos in formalwear.

The series technically begins with From This Day Forward, a short prequel about photographer Leah and the man who broke her heart. After that the focus shifts to the Wedding Belles team itself. To Have and to Hold follows Brooke as she tries to rebuild her career in New York. For Better or Worse pairs ambitious planner Heather with her laid-back musician neighbor Josh. To Love and to Cherish centers on Alexis, the founder who seems to have everything under control until love pushes back.

Friendship matters almost as much as romance here.

Because the planners work together, the books keep returning to the same business, the same support system, and the same demanding social world. That makes the series feel interconnected in a satisfying way. One couple's wedding crisis can spill into the next book's emotional setup, and the women are always in one another's corners.

The tone is glamorous, steamy, and very Manhattan. There is a bit of fairy-tale shine to the Plaza-style settings and luxury events, but the characters themselves are working hard behind the scenes. That mix of polish and pressure gives the series real momentum.

If you like romance with ensembles, female friendships, and high-end event-world details, Wedding Belles is easy to sink into. It is one of Layne's most straightforwardly romantic series, with a strong group dynamic and a lot of sparkle.
