Series background & context
The Nemesis duology is a young adult fantasy about two young rulers caught between war, illness, duty, and feelings neither of them can safely ignore. It begins in a world divided into five kingdoms, where power is tied to a rare substance called spectorium.
Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger, the only person able to create the material that supplies energy across the kingdoms. Her ability should make her important. Instead, it makes her father's most useful weapon. When he plans to use spectorium to start a war, Sepora runs.
Her escape carries her over the border into Theoria, Serubel's enemy. There she is captured and placed in the household of Tarik, Theoria's newly crowned king. Tarik has enough problems already: a deadly plague is spreading through his people, his kingdom faces outside threats, and every decision he makes now has the weight of a crown behind it.
Sepora is supposed to keep her identity hidden. Tarik is supposed to see her as a troublesome servant. That plan does not last long.
The first book, Nemesis, builds its tension through their uneasy connection. Sepora knows that revealing what she can do could put her in greater danger, but her Forging may be the only answer to the Quiet Plague. Tarik needs help, yet trusting someone from Serubel could cost him his kingdom. Their relationship grows alongside questions of loyalty, sacrifice, and who gets to decide how power is used.
Ally continues after Sepora and Tarik have made a fragile truce between Serubel and Theoria. Peace is not simple, especially when a political arrangement and personal feelings keep pulling in different directions. New betrayals and hidden alliances force both of them to question the people closest to them, including each other.
Expect a fast-moving story with royal politics, magical technology, desert kingdoms, winged Serpens, illness-driven urgency, and plenty of romantic friction. The books focus on Sepora and Tarik's changing trust, while the larger conflict asks whether old enemies can build a future that is better than the one their families planned for them.
