Series background & context

The Naked Moose is Stacey Kennedy's Montana-set small-town series about three best friends who buy a bar and try to build a new life around it. That premise gives the books a strong sense of momentum from the start. These women are not just looking for romance. They are chasing reinvention, community, and the chance to make something of their own.

The bar is the center of everything. It brings in locals, creates conflict, sparks gossip, and gives the friends a reason to stay put when life would be easier if they ran. Because the heroines arrive with bruises from the past, the romances in this series often feel a little more tender and a little more hard-won than a standard meet-cute setup.

Montana does a lot of work here too. Wide-open space, cowboy-country energy, and small-town resistance all shape the mood. The men are rugged, yes, but also deeply tied to the place in ways the heroines are still learning. If you want cowboy romance with female friendship, fresh starts, and a sense that love might grow right alongside a business and a home, The Naked Moose is one of Kennedy's warmest recent series.
