Series background & context

Dirty Hacker is a tight romantic suspense duet built around one central pairing, hacker Alex McCoy and CIA agent Rowan Hawke. Instead of giving each book a new couple, Stacey Kennedy stays with the same two people long enough to let their history, trust issues, and dangerous case really breathe.

That setup gives the series a different feel from many of her linked romances. The books are more serialized, and the relationship grows in the middle of an active investigation rather than neatly alongside one. Alex is brilliant, guarded, and used to relying on herself. Rowan is protective, capable, and exactly the sort of man who would be both useful and infuriating to someone like her.

The result is fast, slick, and high on tension. There is digital sleuthing, field danger, and enough emotional baggage between the leads to keep every scene charged. Kennedy also has fun with the contrast between Alex's technical power and Rowan's physical, tactical approach. If you like romance duets that mix second chances, real suspense, and a hero and heroine who have to learn how to work together before they can love each other well, Dirty Hacker is an easy binge.
