Series background & context

The My Call series is a faith-centered supernatural drama about family, temptation, and a long-running fight against an evil force. It begins with David and Sheila O'Neil, parents of two daughters who believe their family is complete. Then Sheila's pastor tells her she will have a son, despite what doctors have told her, and that the child will be set apart for a spiritual purpose.

That child is Ronald Emmanuel O'Neil, usually called Ron. Before he is even born, Ron is marked as someone meant to become an evangelist with gifts tied to faith, healing, and miracles. But the prophecy also makes him a target. Satan sends Mr. Bones, a voodoo practitioner with frightening spiritual power, to stop Ron before he can fulfill that calling.

The threat doesn't end with childhood.

As Ron grows up, the series follows the choices that pull him away from the life expected of him. Wealth, expensive possessions, romance, crime, and the appeal of power all become part of the test. Ron's close friend Keith is pulled into the same dangerous orbit, while Diana, Stacy, and the wider O'Neil family live with the fallout. The books keep the struggle personal: people want love, security, and a better life, but those wants can be used against them.

My Call lays out the prophecy and introduces Mr. Bones as the force pursuing Ron. My Call II: Mr. Bones Revenge continues after Ron begins getting what he wants, asking whether love and faith can survive when greed and temptation gain a foothold. The pressure on relationships is just as important as the supernatural danger.

In My Call III: The Spirit Of Hell Unleashed, Ron and Diana are married, Keith and Stacy are together, and the O'Neil family appears to have found some stability. That calm does not last. A hostile spirit finds bodies to possess, and the family faces another attack shaped by anger and revenge. My Call IV: The Origin of Mr. Bones turns toward the question that has shadowed the earlier books: who, or what, is Mr. Bones, and where did his abilities come from?

This is a series where the adversary keeps coming back.

Expect adult situations, crime, relationship drama, prayers, and direct spiritual conflict. The tone is intense and melodramatic, with good and evil treated as real forces in the characters' lives. Readers who prefer a story that puts faith at the center of its supernatural stakes should begin with My Call and read the books in order, since the O'Neil family's history and Mr. Bones's threat build from one installment to the next.
