Can she trust anyone, including people who look exactly like her? Is there a future beyond repetition and blood?

That change in scale is one of the best things about the series. The first book feels almost like a locked-room nightmare. The later ones carry some of that same pressure into safer houses, stranger alliances, and a wider conspiracy with roots far older than Molly's childhood. Thompson never loses the intimacy, though. Even when the books pull in espionage and scientific backstory, the real hook is still Molly's point of view, her fear, her anger, her exhaustion, and the grim stubbornness that keeps her moving.

In tone, these are horror books with science fiction underneath them. They are bloody, fast, and deeply uneasy, but they are also thoughtful about trauma, memory, and the way violence reshapes a person. Read them in order.
