Her interest in the genre is personal. Molin has said she first came to comics through manga in junior high, then found Marvel through the rebooted X-Men films. She has named crime fiction and noir among her own reading interests, while also enjoying mainstream superhero characters and the space-opera worlds of Star Wars and Star Trek. Molin is based in Colorado with her husband, a zookeeper, and their family, along with an animal crew that has included horses, a cat, and a corgi.
