Maple Falls is Kathleen Fuller's contemporary small-town romance corner, and it feels a little different from her Amish fiction right away. Compared with the Amish books, the tone is breezier and more openly bantering, but the emotional concerns are familiar, second chances, fear of vulnerability, and learning that being needed is not the same thing as being known. Fuller does not suddenly become a different writer here. She just swaps out the setting and lets herself play a little more.
