Series background & context
Man Of The Year is a very loose two-book series built around one fictional magazine idea. Each novel begins when a famous man is named Citizen magazine's Man of the Year, and the public attention forces him to look a little harder at the gap between his image and his real life.
In Yours in Scandal, that man is Robert, the youngest mayor in New York City history, whose political ambitions get tangled up with Adeline, the governor's daughter. Yours to Keep moves away from politics and into sports, following injured baseball star Carter as he returns home and realizes the woman who really gets under his skin is not the one he expected.
The books share a setup, not a cast.
That means you can read them in either order without losing anything. What carries across is the tone. These are grown-up, old-school romance stories with witty dialogue, public stakes, and men who are used to being admired from a distance. Once the spotlight turns personal, both have to reckon with who they are when nobody is clapping.
One book stays in a polished New York political world. The other moves to a hometown setting and trades campaign pressure for reunion nerves and sports fame. Together they show how flexible the premise can be. If you like romances about public figures being forced into honesty, Man Of The Year is a neat little mini-series.
