Series background & context
Lyon Dynasty World is Vivian Wood in full dark, myth-tinged mode. The duet, King's Capture and Queen's Sacrifice, reworks Hades and Persephone inside a modern criminal empire. The hero is not just rich. He and his brothers are arms dealers, men who treat danger like part of the family business. The heroine, Persephone, or Penny, is an art forger who gets dragged into that world because she is useful and because the hero decides he wants her near him.
From there, the series runs on captivity, pursuit, and power. Hades is cold, brutal, and used to getting his way. Penny is frightened, but she is not empty or decorative. She has skills, a past, and reasons for not trusting anybody. The duet shape matters, because the first book sets the trap and the second book deals with the cost. This is not a quick kidnapping fantasy that resolves in a neat little bow after one misunderstanding.
Expect international movement, rival criminals, forged identities, and a romance that grows inside a very unsafe world. The tone is dark and high heat, but the emotional center is still about whether two people who live by control can make room for anything softer. If you like myth retellings with danger still left in them, this is the series to pick.
