Series background & context
Cherish is one of Vivian Wood's darker series, published under the Olivia Ryann name. Start with Capture, then move through Control, Covet, and Cherish. This is a one-couple arc, and it absolutely works best in order because the whole series is built on escalation.
The setup is not gentle. The heroine, Katherine, gets pulled into the orbit of a dangerous man she calls Monster, and the relationship begins with fear, captivity, and control. As the books go on, Katherine starts changing into Fiore, and that shift is a big part of what makes the series feel darker and more psychological than a standard romance. The central question is not just whether these two people want each other. It is whether either of them can survive what that wanting turns them into.
If you read dark romance for obsession, power games, and emotional transformation, this is one of the clearest examples in Wood's catalog. The world is intimate rather than sprawling, but the intensity stays high. Read it when you want something dangerous, possessive, and deliberately uncomfortable before it turns toward any kind of healing.
