Lords of the Darkyn Books in Order

Lords of the Darkyn grows directly out of the Darkyn universe, but it shifts the focus in a useful way. These books lean harder into missions, artifacts, and the long reach of Templar history. The romance is still there, but the structure feels more like a run of connected adventures, with immortal warriors sent into the field to recover dangerous objects and keep old secrets out of mortal hands.

The opening book, Nightborn, sends Korvel after a scroll rumored to contain maps to Templar treasures and the secret of eternal life. That premise tells you what this series likes. Hidden documents, relics, false identities, uneasy alliances, and people who absolutely should not fall for each other, but do. Simone Derien, the daughter of the scroll’s guardian, is not just along for the ride. She has secrets and motives of her own, which gives the first book a nice tension between partnership and betrayal.

After that, the books keep the same larger pressure while changing the pair at the center. Nightbred follows Jamys Durand and Chris Lang as a hunt for lost treasure turns into a fight over future, territory, and divided loyalties. Nightbound brings in Beaumaris of York, a Darkyn with a hidden past, and archaeologist Alys Stuart, whose work on Templar history puts her right in the path of a dangerous artifact. The pattern is clear and satisfying. Each novel gives a different couple the spotlight, but every mission feeds the bigger worry that the wrong person might unlock immortality, or start a war trying.

These are quest books as much as romance books.

That makes the tone a little different from the earlier Darkyn novels. There is still danger, blood, longing, and political strain, but there is also more overt movement, more time spent following clues, and more focus on objects that carry the weight of old history. The world feels wider here. One book can move from hidden archives to priceless collections to places like Knight’s Realm, the Kyn stronghold disguised as a medieval theme park, without losing the sense that the Darkyn are always working a few steps ahead of disaster.

The series also gives some welcome room to secondary figures who matter in the larger world. Warriors who might have seemed unreachable or half hidden in earlier books get full emotional arcs here. That makes Lords of the Darkyn feel rewarding for longtime readers, but the stories are still built around clean, readable setups. A scroll. A treasure. An artifact. A mission that becomes personal.
