The hook of the Lords of the Armory books is simple and strong. A group of former soldiers comes home from war, only to find that England has dangers of its own. At the center is the Armory, an old renovated building that serves as meeting place, refuge, and planning room for men who still trust one another like brothers.

Across the series, the larger threat is Scepter, a revolutionary organization working its way into society and Parliament. That gives the books real forward drive. Reading in order helps, because the conspiracy deepens from one book to the next.

A Relentless Rake and A Remarkable Rogue raise the stakes again, with kidnappings, divided loyalties, and characters forced to decide whom they can trust.

The women matter just as much as the men here. Harrington gives them jobs, secrets, responsibilities, and moral weight. They are not standing on the sidelines waiting to be chosen. They run networks, protect siblings and children, clear their own names, and step into the fight even when society says they should stay quiet.

A Problem Princess shows the series at its broadest, with a princess under attack and a hero who suspects the enemy may not be gone after all. Even then, the emotional core stays personal. These books are about people shaped by war, duty, grief, and guilt, trying to build something decent together.

If you like Regency romance with strong continuity, secret societies, competent heroines, and a touch of thriller energy, this is a very easy series to sink into. The clothes and ballrooms are here, but so are ambushes, coded loyalties, and men who find that coming home can be its own kind of battlefield.
