Author bio

Layla Frost writes the kind of romance she once stayed up all night reading. Her books range from inky, tattooed mechanics and Vegas antiheroes to cursed soulmates and secret LA clubs, but they all circle the same obsessions, like found family, dirty jokes, and couples who actually talk to each other.

Growing up, she hid under the covers with a flashlight and a stack of Sweet Valley High paperbacks swiped from her older sister. Before long she was sneaking Harlequin romances into class and promising herself “just one more chapter” long after midnight. That habit never really went away, it just slowly shifted from devouring other people’s stories to dreaming up her own.

Those late nights mattered. A brutal case of insomnia pushed her from daydreaming to drafting, stitching together all the tropes she loved best into one story about a gruff mechanic and a secretly awkward dessert queen. She shared a rough first chapter online almost on a whim, yanked it back in a panic, and then discovered that readers had already seen it and wanted more. Their enthusiasm helped turn that experiment into Hyde and Seek and, eventually, into a full-time writing life.

Frost’s contemporary romances tend to live in gritty, working-class corners of the city. The Hyde books follow the crew at a custom garage, where age gaps, jealousy, and fierce loyalty mix with cupcakes, Harleys, and a whole lot of heat. Hyde and Seek, Best Kase Scenario, Until Nox, Wild Wicked Obsession, and related novellas build a loose web of friends and found family, with regular crossovers into biker worlds and other authors’ universes.

When she leans darker, the stakes sharpen. In the Black Resorts novels, starting with Little Dove, guarded heroines fall for men who run a dangerous luxury empire in and around Las Vegas. The Dillon Sisters duet, including Damaged, digs into mental health, trauma, and obsession, pairing wounded heroines with men who are as protective as they are morally complicated.

On the paranormal side, The Four series lets her blend magic, mythology, and romance. Books like Styx, Stoned, Broken, and Bones follow cursed siblings, soul-stealing villains, and fated mates who fall in love while trying to keep both Heaven and Earth from going off the rails. Even with evil organizations and haunted houses in the mix, the stories keep her trademark banter, pop culture jokes, and spicy chemistry front and center.

More recently, she has turned her eye to power games among the rich and famous. With Us spins an age-gap city romance around businessman Theo Amato, while the Gilded series, starting with Sugar, dives into an exclusive LA club where a student journalist strikes a deal with a high-profile lawyer. Across all of these, Frost is drawn to imbalanced power on paper and how trust, consent, and communication slowly level that playing field.

Away from the page, she describes herself as a rebel, a nerd, and a night owl. She lives in New York State, not the city, cheers for the Red Sox, and is happiest with loud music on whether she is at a concert, on the couch, or driving with the windows down. Insomnia is still part of her life, now fueled by iced coffee, a growing collection of tchotchkes and plants, and the small flock of hens she dotes on.

She also jokes that she is the world’s okayest mom, even if her kids think she is at least a little bit cool. What she takes very seriously is the relationship with her readers. Because she is shy, the internet lets her skip the stage fright while still trading messages, inside jokes, and recommendations. For her, the best part of the job is simple: she gets to tell love stories in comfy clothes, connect with people who see themselves in her characters, and prove that even the most damaged, sleep-deprived insomniac can find a happily ever after.
