Series background & context

The Laws of Physics books form the second major arc in the Hypothesis universe and tell a single love story across three installments: Motion, Space, and Time. They follow Mona, a brilliant physics student who schedules every minute of her life, and Abram, a gifted musician connected to her family.

When the trilogy opens, Mona agrees to impersonate her identical twin sister for a week so their celebrity parents will not discover yet another scandal. She expects to hide in a guest house, avoid attention, and be back in the lab before anyone is the wiser. Instead she finds herself under informal house arrest with Abram, her brother's friend, who has been tasked with keeping an eye on the supposed wild child.

Motion and Space cover that intense, secret filled fortnight. Mona, who normally avoids feelings by burying herself in equations, is forced to interact with someone who challenges her and, inconveniently, sees past her act. Abram appears laid back and aimless, but his loyalty and integrity complicate Mona's assumption that he is just another bad influence in her sister's orbit.

The final book, Time, jumps forward. The fallout from Mona's deception has careers and hearts on the line. When she and Abram meet again years later, both have grown into their talents and responsibilities. Rebuilding trust requires them to be painfully honest about the choices they made, the reasons behind them, and what kind of partnership they want going forward.

As with other Hypothesis stories, the Laws of Physics trilogy mixes slow burn romance with ethical questions and family drama. It explores how a person raised under intense public scrutiny might cling to control, how art and science can both be refuges, and how telling the truth can be far scarier than keeping up a lie.
