The Lady Bag books follow a homeless woman moving through the West End of London with her greyhound, Electra. She drinks too much red wine, talks to her dog, and sometimes hears the dog talk back. She is companion, witness, and sometimes the closest thing Lady Bag has to a steady conscience.

The second book, Crocodiles & Good Intentions, picks up after prison. Lady Bag is out, sober, reunited with Electra, and surrounded by friends who want to keep her on track. Of course that does not last. A half-made promise to a fellow prisoner pulls her back toward trouble, which gives the two books a loose emotional arc about whether someone so battered by life can ever really leave the past alone.

These are crime novels, but they are not standard detective stories. They work more like street-level suspense, carried by voice, atmosphere, and the question of what Lady Bag can see that everyone else misses. The humor is dark, the danger is real, and the books never lose sight of the fact that homelessness is not a quirky backdrop. It shapes every decision she makes.
