Series background & context

Lindzee Armstrong's Kiss Me series blends clean romance with light suspense. The central couples have real chemistry and unfinished business, but danger keeps pushing them to make choices before they are ready.

Kiss Me in the Moonlight starts in Europe. Paige takes a summer job chaperoning teenage travelers after her boyfriend, Nick, ends their relationship by email and disappears. The trip should be a chance to enjoy the history she loves and get some distance from a very public hurt. Instead, Nick turns up as a fellow chaperone.

Nick has a secret life as an undercover agent.

His work has already cost him a trusted partner and his relationship with Paige. While he tries to investigate what went wrong on a dangerous European mission, Paige wants a straight answer about why he left. The travel setting gives the book a fast-moving backdrop, with historic sites, student-tour chaos, old feelings, and an investigation that becomes harder to keep separate from their personal lives.

Kiss Me in the Rain brings the series back to the United States and shifts to Cypress Grove, Layla's cherished family home in South Carolina. Layla returns from Europe with a bruised heart, only to learn that her family is close to losing the property. An investor's son is part of the proposed solution, and Layla agrees to a relationship she does not really want in hopes of protecting the place that matters most to her.

The person she actually wants is Tyler, a quiet bartender who has decided to take a risk on the future he wants. When Layla finds a suspicious work order at Cypress Grove, the two work together to untangle what is happening around the estate. Their growing attraction adds pressure to an already difficult situation.

The suspense in these books is romantic rather than grim. Expect secrets, investigations, suspicious details, and characters trying to decide whom they can trust. The danger supports the emotional conflict instead of taking over the story.

Both novels work as standalones, with their own couple and central problem. Reading in order is still worthwhile, especially because Kiss Me in the Moonlight sets up the travel world and emotional atmosphere that carries into the second book.

Come to this series for second chances, travel, family homes worth fighting for, and romance that gets more complicated when the truth is not easy to say.
