Series background & context

The Chasing Tomorrow series is Lindzee Armstrong's more emotional corner of contemporary fiction. These books still make room for romance, but their main focus is the complicated hope tied to motherhood, family, faith, and the life people imagined they would have.

Chasing Someday begins with three women whose circumstances are very different but whose pain overlaps. Megan has spent years trying to become a mother. Christina wants a baby badly enough to hide how long she has been trying from her husband. Kyra already has a young child, but financial strain and secondary infertility make the prospect of growing her family feel painfully out of reach. A school book drive brings them together and turns private struggles into a shared story.

There are no easy answers here.

The book takes infertility seriously, including the way it can change friendships, marriages, faith, self-image, and daily life. The women do not all want the same things or respond to disappointment in the same way. That difference is part of what gives the story its momentum, as each character has to face what she has kept buried.

Tomorrow's Lullaby narrows the focus to Sienna, a young woman who placed a baby for adoption at eighteen. Two years later, she is trying to move forward and prepare for an important Juilliard audition. Meeting Aaron complicates that plan. He was adopted himself and has very different feelings about the birth mother he never knew, so Sienna has to decide whether she can tell him the truth about her own past.

The series is best approached as thoughtful, faith-forward women's fiction with romantic threads. The books are connected by their interest in motherhood and healing rather than by one continuing mystery or a single recurring couple. Each can be read on its own, though reading both gives a fuller picture of the questions Armstrong is exploring.

Expect difficult subjects, but not a bleak reading experience. These are stories about people who are hurt, scared, and sometimes at odds with the people closest to them. They are also about finding support, making room for grief, and deciding what hope can look like after plans change.

For readers who like book-club-friendly fiction, this is a good place to start. Both novels leave space to think about the choices their characters make, especially when love, family, and identity pull in more than one direction.
