Author bio

K Leigh is an author and artist from Massachusetts who now lives in Providence, Rhode Island. Before fiction took over, art was the center of the work. Leigh studied art education in Boston, built a strong visual practice, and showed work in galleries before bringing that same restless, image-heavy energy into books.

That art background still shows.

Leigh's fiction feels made by someone who thinks in color, shape, rhythm, and mood as much as plot. The early science fiction work, especially Colour Theory, Pattern Recognition, and Reformat, leans hard into that strength. These books mix cyberpunk, queer identity, memory, and failing systems, but they stay close to the people inside the chaos.

Leigh did not come to fiction from a narrow literary track. There is also a tech background in the mix, along with years of creative and freelance work. Leigh has written essays and commentary outside fiction too, and that blend of art, tech, and lived frustration with modern systems runs straight through the novels.

It makes sense, then, that the big breakout project is the Constelis Voss cycle. It starts with an android named Alex on a planet-sized ship, then opens into a much larger story about power, identity, memory, and what happens when people are treated like parts in a machine. Readers who click with Leigh's work usually seem to like the same things: the emotional intensity, the odd angles, the queer perspective, and the refusal to sand everything down into something neat.

Leigh likes messy people in broken systems.

That is true in the lighter books too. The romance side of the catalog, including Sugar Daddy Santa, Rockstar Cupid, and Sparks with the Single Dad, is warmer, funnier, and much more playful on the surface, but the characters still arrive carrying real baggage. A grumpy billionaire at Christmas, a rock star stepping out of the spotlight, a single dad trying to make room for love, these are big-trope setups, but Leigh gives them a little bruised humanity.

Another important thread in the work is range. Leigh is not only writing one kind of book for one kind of reader. There are holiday romances, there is queer cyberpunk, and there is Indigo Voss, which turns back toward Alex's earlier life and gives the larger science fiction story even more weight. Across genres, the recurring concerns stay recognizable: who gets control, who gets erased, what a body can hold, and what it means to be seen clearly.

These books can get strange, but they are never cold.

Now based in Providence with husband Trevor, Leigh continues to balance writing with visual art. When not working on books or art, Leigh has said you are likely to find them dabbling in 3D work or playing video games. That mix of mediums feels right. Even on the page, Leigh's work is always reaching for image, movement, and texture, trying to make the emotional hit land as hard as the idea behind it.
