Series background & context
Jupiter Point starts with a very simple disruption: a sexy wildfire hotshot crew moves into a quiet coastal town, and life gets louder from there. That first wave of books follows the firefighters as they bring old baggage, fresh chemistry, and a lot of heat to a place that was not really prepared for them. It is small-town romance with smoke in the air and trouble around the edges.
The early books focus on the hotshot crew, their rescues, and the personal messes they drag in with them. Bernard uses wildfire work as more than a costume. It gives the stories urgency, risk, and a believable reason for these characters to live intensely. At the same time, the town stays warm and grounded. There are locals with long memories, family ties that never quite loosen, and plenty of opportunities for a bad first impression to become a very good romance.
Later, the series shifts into the Knight family books, and that is where Jupiter Point gets even more interconnected. The Knight siblings live under the shadow of their father's unsolved murder, so romance in these books tends to come bundled with investigation, suspicion, and a lot of protectiveness. Deputies, pilots, reporters, and people on the run all get pulled into that orbit.
That shift works because the setting is strong enough to hold both flavors. Jupiter Point can support fun, flirty firefighter stories and more suspense-driven family ones without feeling like two unrelated series. The throughline is the town itself, plus Bernard's love of competent people who get completely knocked sideways by attraction.
If you want the broadest Jupiter Point experience, start with Seeing Stars or Set the Night on Fire, then read straight through. You will get the hotshot crew, the Knight brothers, and a town that keeps proving it is much more complicated than it looks from the water.
