Firelight Ridge Books in Order

Firelight Ridge is Jennifer Bernard's most remote series setting, and she makes good use of it. The town is tucked into the Alaskan mountains and, in winter, can only be reached by small plane. That one detail tells you a lot. This is a place where leaving is not always simple, help is not always close, and every secret feels a little bigger because of the landscape around it.

The books lean harder into romantic suspense than most of Bernard's earlier work. Murders, disappearances, explosions, strange wildlife behavior, old crimes, and unsettling clues all play a role. But the series is not all tension. Firelight Ridge also has a strong found-family core, with friendships and local loyalty giving the stories warmth even when things turn dangerous.

A notable thread is the group of women whose lives keep converging there. Outsiders arrive with very different reasons for heading into the wilderness, but once they land in Firelight Ridge, they get tangled up with the town and with the men trying to protect it. Pilots, doctors, mechanics, scientists, bar owners, and other locals all help turn the place into more than a suspense backdrop.

The setting never feels generic. Mountains, snow, frozen rivers, bad roads, isolated valleys, and long flights all affect what characters can do and when they can do it. Bernard also keeps feeding the series new mysteries, so the town develops an ongoing sense of hidden history instead of feeling like a reset every book.

If you like your romance with real external stakes, Firelight Ridge is a strong pick. Ice Falls is the right place to start, because it introduces the town, the danger, and the way Bernard uses the Alaskan wilderness to turn attraction into an adventure.
