Sun and Shadow brings Winter into a bloody double murder, while Never End traps the squad in a heat wave and a string of rape-murders that may connect to an old failure. In Frozen Tracks, attacks on students and brief child abductions seem unrelated until the investigation reaches a bleak rural landscape.

Later books keep widening the frame. Sail of Stone divides attention between Winter's search for a missing man with a wartime family mystery and Aneta's concern for a woman who may be in danger at home. Room No. 10 links a death in a shabby hotel room to a disappearance from two decades earlier. The cases can be grim, but the books do not rush only toward a culprit. They make room for doubt, exhaustion, family strain, and the slow work of fitting fragments together.

Start with Death Angels if you want the original series order and Winter's first case. Readers who first met him in English may recognize Sun and Shadow as an accessible introduction, but the earlier books give more context for the team and Winter's life. Expect thoughtful, atmospheric crime stories where the investigation matters as much as the people carrying it out.
