Author bio

Igor Nikolic writes science fiction and urban fantasy built around ordinary people who are suddenly handed problems no sensible person would want. His stories mix military action, hidden systems of power, strange technology, old mysteries, and characters who tend to respond badly to being pushed around.

His first published series, The Space Legacy, opens with The Spaceship in the Stone. Michael Freeman, a disabled veteran trying to recover from a run of civilian-life setbacks, heads for his grandfather's mountain cabin and finds something impossible: an ancient spacecraft. That discovery ties him to nanotechnology, an unusually emotional intelligence named Max, and enemies who would rather control the discovery than let him live with it.

It is a big premise, but the story begins with a man looking for quiet and a cold beer.

From there, Nikolic lets the scope widen. Orbital Ascension moves from survival and secrecy toward the challenge of getting the ship into orbit while hostile groups close in. Ancient Enemies raises the stakes again, connecting space colonization, a deadly engineered plague, and questions about the makers of the ancient technology. The series keeps one foot in practical consequences: building, organizing, defending, and deciding who gets to use power.

Max gets a parallel spotlight in Max’s Logs Vol.1, Max's Logs Vol. 2, and Max's Logs Vol. 3. These companion books step sideways from the main plot to follow the ship's digital mind. Max can be funny, impatient, and overwhelmed, which gives the large-scale operations a more personal angle.

That structure makes the reading path flexible. The numbered Space Legacy novels carry Michael's main story, while the logs add Max's view of events and show what it feels like to operate at a scale no human can quite match.

Technology in these books is never just decorative. Gravity drives, orbital construction, AI, nanites, and digital worlds create opportunities, but they also create new obligations. Nikolic likes to ask what happens after someone gets access to a tool that can change everything. The answer is usually more work, more danger, and a lot of difficult choices.

His other major project, Adam Novus Chronicles, switches from space adventure to contemporary urban fantasy. The Death Curse follows Adam Novus, a former black-ops operator who returns from the Amazon with a ten-year gap in his memory and a dangerous change in his body. Vampires, werewolves, werecats, elves, and demons are not distant legends in this setting. They are part of a hidden society with its own rules, alliances, and grudges.

Both series favor capable protagonists, sharp humor, and escalating trouble over a quiet life.

Nikolic's own author notes lean into the everyday side of writing: time at the keyboard, plot corners, and an interest in the details behind far-out ideas. He has also described a fondness for rereading favorite books, collecting movies, and planting Easter eggs. That sense of play shows up in the work, especially when Max gets to comment on the messy business of humans trying to run a future.

He continues to develop both fictional worlds. Whether the setting is a hidden supernatural community or a rapidly expanding presence in space, the through line is clear: people gain extraordinary abilities, then have to live with the consequences.
