Series background & context

Hopeless Romantics is Nina Bocci's small-town romance series, set in Hope Lake, Pennsylvania. The books follow people who are trying to get their work, families, friendships, and love lives into some kind of workable shape. Hope Lake is the connective thread. It is a place where people remember your childhood, notice when you are struggling, and are not shy about getting involved.

The series starts with On the Corner of Love and Hate. Emma Peroni works in local government and is asked to manage the mayoral campaign of Cooper Endicott, her former childhood friend and current source of frustration. The campaign puts them in close quarters while old hurts, professional pressure, and a long-running attraction become harder to ignore.

Small-town life means nobody gets to stay anonymous for long.

The later books widen the circle. In Meet Me on Love Lane, Charlotte Bishop returns to Hope Lake after her life in New York comes apart. She expects a temporary stop, but reconnecting with family, childhood friends, and the town's florist shop makes leaving much more complicated. Her romantic choices are tied to a bigger question about where she belongs and what kind of life she wants to build.

The Ingredients of You and Me follows Parker Adams, a baker who comes to Hope Lake after selling her New York business. She is looking for a fresh start and finds a welcoming community, a group of outspoken older women, and Nick Arthur, a former flame whose presence makes a clean reset difficult. Baking, friendship, and the challenge of choosing a new direction all sit alongside the romance.

The holiday novella From Hope Lake, With Love offers a shorter visit. Travel journalist Camille Douglas arrives to write about the town just before Christmas and meets Dr. Maxwell Reese, a doctor who has settled there after years of traveling. Snow, lights, and the town's festive mood give the story a cozy seasonal frame.

These are warm, low-stakes contemporary romances with banter, familiar faces, and a strong sense of community. Each book has its own central couple, but reading in order makes the returning friendships and town history more rewarding. Start with On the Corner of Love and Hate for the clearest introduction to Hope Lake and the people at its center.
