Holy War Books in Order

Holy War takes a familiar Partlow setup, humanity at war with the Tahni, and gives it a slightly different angle by leaning into ideology, extremism, and the long grind of a conflict that reshapes everyone inside it. The series opens with first contact going spectacularly wrong, then broadens into a many-front war that refuses to stay simple.

It gets messy in the way war always does.

Partlow splits attention across different characters and theaters, which helps the series feel larger than one campaign. Ryan Hendrix, Travis Miller, and the other recurring figures each carry a different part of the burden, from front-line fighting to civilian defense to the altered, cybernetic edge of the war. That spread gives Holy War a wider lens than some of his more unit-focused books.

The titles, Genesis, Judgment Day, Revelation, Armageddon, tell you a lot about the mood. This is a war story with apocalyptic pressure. Colonies fall, civilians get cornered, and even victories feel temporary. But the books still move in a clear, accessible way. Partlow is more interested in getting you through the next decision, next firefight, next impossible holdout, than in slowing down for grand speeches.
