Series background & context
Hollywood Name Game is Aston in contemporary mode, bright, glossy, and a little more playful than some of her historical work. The setting is the entertainment business, so the books get to move through actors, writers, musicians, movie sets, public images, and the weird collision between ordinary emotion and very public lives.
Fame helps, but it does not fix anything.
The heroes are men with status, money, and visibility, but that is not the same as stability. Some are burned out. Some are lonely. Some are charming in public and much harder to know in private. The women they meet are not there just to admire them. Aston usually gives them ambitions of their own, and that keeps the romances from floating away into fantasy. These couples still have to deal with trust, timing, work, and the question of who they are when the cameras are not rolling.
A nice touch in this series is the tone. It can be funny and flirty, but Aston is also willing to bring in a bit of suspense or danger when a story needs extra pressure. That means you can get the glamour of Hollywood along with a romance that still has some bite.
If you like contemporary romance with celebrity settings, strong chemistry, and just enough behind-the-scenes chaos to keep things lively, Hollywood Name Game is a good pick. The books are standalones, so you can start anywhere and then circle back for the ones that sound most fun.
