Series background & context

Dukes Done Wrong starts with a terrific hook: boys who were blamed for things they did not do, sent away in disgrace, and forced to grow up carrying damage that was never really theirs. Years later, those boys have become men, and in Aston's hands that means titles, old wounds, and the chance to build a new kind of family.

These men remember everything.

The series is set in the Regency world, but its emotional center is found family. The heroes may become dukes, but the important bond is the one they form with each other. They know what it is to be misjudged, unwanted, or exiled, so when love comes along they do not always trust it at first. That gives the books a slightly rougher edge than a lighter society romance. These are not men strolling into courtship with perfect confidence.

The heroines matter just as much. Aston gives them work, intelligence, independence, and enough backbone to stand up to men who are used to hiding behind rank or old hurt. Estate management, family obligations, and social pressure all play a part, but the main question is whether these couples can stop living by the story other people told about them.

The series still delivers all the pleasures of Regency romance, dukedoms, drawing rooms, chemistry, and happily-ever-afters. It just adds a stronger note of redemption. If you like wounded heroes, loyal friendships, and romances where love helps people reclaim the lives they should have had in the first place, Dukes Done Wrong will probably work for you.
