Hero of Darkness Books in Order

Hero of Darkness is one of Andy Peloquin's earlier ways into the Hunter of Voramis story. If you already know the later Darkblade books, you will recognize the same central figure, an immortal assassin bound to a cursed blade and driven by a past he cannot fully remember. If you are new to the world, this series still works as a direct entry point into the Hunter's long war.

The premise is simple and strong. The Hunter kills for money, but he follows his own harsh code, and the moment that code is bent, everything gets worse. From there the books push him through city intrigue, desert journeys, mountain strongholds, ancient secrets, and open conflict with demons hiding among mankind.

He is never alone for long.

As the series goes on, the Hunter's story becomes tied to people who complicate his life in useful ways, especially the boy Hailen, whose safety and strange gifts pull the books away from straight revenge and into something more protective, uneasy, and emotional. The result is a dark fantasy series that keeps asking whether a man shaped by killing can still choose mercy, loyalty, or sacrifice.

What sets Hero of Darkness apart is pace. These books feel leaner and more concentrated than the later expanded Darkblade versions, but the key draw is the same, a grim, action-heavy fantasy led by a protagonist who is equal parts feared weapon and reluctant guardian.
