A Worthington Wedding
by Ella Quinn
2024
Charlie, Earl of Stanwood, wins at cards an estate his opponent is about to gamble away and sets out to return it to its rightful owner. Independent Oriana Ognon, long accustomed to cleaning up after her gambling relatives, wants nothing to do with a rescuer, until sabotage draws them together.
Series background & context
Here Come the Grooms is a newer series set in the familiar Worthington universe, but this time the focus is squarely on three of the ton's most eligible gentlemen and the sharp-witted women who upend their tidy plans. The tone is light and romantic, with a dash of adventure and a deep appreciation for heroines who insist on being treated as partners, not prizes.
In A Worthington Wedding, Charlie, Earl of Stanwood, overhears that an unscrupulous viscount plans to gamble away an estate where some of his dependents live. Though he rarely plays cards, Charlie hates bullies, so he wins the property and heads out to return it to the rightful owner. He expects gratitude. Instead he meets Oriana Ognon, a capable woman who already holds the legal deed and has no intention of being rescued.
Oriana comes from a long line of male gamblers and has learned to protect her assets and staff almost single-handedly. Charlie's respect for her competence, and his fascination with the all-female household she has built, slowly turn a prickly introduction into genuine admiration. Sabotage on her land and pressure from his family complicate matters, forcing them to work together if they want both justice and a future together.
Catching Lady Theo follows Leo, Duke of Chandos, a long-time friend of the Worthingtons whose carefree bachelor days are catching up with him. He has sworn not to marry until much later in life, yet finds himself hopelessly in love with his best friend's younger sister, Theo Vivers. Theo sees him as a charming but unsuitable older brother figure, at least until a compromising incident leads to an announced betrothal she never expected.
As the pair move through the relentless whirl of the Season, Theo tries to free them both from the engagement while Leo seizes every opportunity to show that he is serious. Rival suitors, family expectations, and Theo's fears about trusting a reformed rake keep the tension high, even as Quinn weaves in familiar Worthington faces and cozy family scenes.
Because the series is still unfolding, each book leaves room for more grooms to have their turn at the altar. You can begin with whichever premise appeals most, but readers already attached to the Worthington clan will especially enjoy seeing beloved side characters step forward as leading men.
