Helix is Nathan M. Farrugia's episodic technothriller series, set in the same dangerous world as the Fifth Column books. It brings together American rogue operatives and Russian spy hunters who would normally have every reason to distrust one another. They are pushed into an uneasy alliance because a new enemy is rising, and that enemy has the reach, resources, and ruthlessness to reshape Europe.

At the center is Olesya, a spy hunter who works in a world of programmed assassins, covert agencies, and disappearing operatives. She is capable and determined, but the series does not make her task easy. Her investigations keep exposing new layers of a conflict that involves the Fifth Column, engineered recruits, and extremists who want people with altered genetics erased.

Sophia, Damien, and Jay also play important roles as the story expands. They come from the earlier Fifth Column conflict, carrying old scars and unfinished business into a new war. That connection makes Helix rewarding for readers who already know the earlier series, but its immediate, mission-based structure also gives it a brisk rhythm of its own.

The early episodes establish the pattern. Agents vanish. Allies are kidnapped. A mission in one country leads to a clue in another. In Exile, Olesya is sent to the frozen borderlands of Kaliningrad after an attack and a kidnapping pull her case apart. Meanwhile, Damien and Nasira chase answers that lead toward a heavily guarded American military base.

No one gets to stay on the sidelines.

As the series continues, the threat posed by the Purity movement becomes harder to ignore. In Inversion, Olesya and Sophia race to stop an attack designed to turn public opinion against them and kill thousands. The books use that conflict to explore fear of enhancement technology, the danger of propaganda, and the cost of being labeled an enemy by people with more power.

By Kill Switch, the conflict has reached a breaking point. Olesya and Sophia have little time left to stop Purity's plan for Europe while the Fifth Column closes in. The tone is fast, tense, and packed with shifting loyalties, but the series keeps its focus on a small group of operatives trying to protect one another while deciding who can still be trusted.

Helix works best in sequence because each episode builds on the team dynamics and the larger conspiracy. Expect covert operations, high-tech weapons, chases, betrayals, and characters who must keep moving even when the mission has become much bigger than they expected.
