The Guys and Daughters series is built around single fathers, daughters, and the women who become part of their complicated family lives. Karen Templeton uses the four connected romances to ask what makes someone a parent in practice, not just in name.

The first book, Dear Santa, starts with Grant Braeburn after the death of his former wife leaves him raising their young daughter full-time. Grant has money and a large home, but neither helps him understand what his grieving child needs. Mia Vaccaro, his ex-wife's best friend, becomes an important source of comfort for the little girl and a challenge to Grant's guarded way of living.

The Vaccaro family helps link the books. Their relationships, friendships, and children keep the series feeling like one extended circle, even as the central couple changes from book to book. In Yours, Mine... or Ours?, an old inn becomes the unexpected shared home of Rudy Vaccaro, his daughter, Violet Kildare, and Violet's two sons.

The kids are not props.

They have opinions, grief, worries, and their own ways of testing the adults around them. Templeton lets the children affect the story without making them magically solve every problem. The adults still have to do the hard work of trust, compromise, and choosing a life together.

Later books continue that pattern. Baby, I'm Yours adds another family-centered romance, while From Friends to Forever brings widowed father Tony Vaccaro and longtime family friend Lili Szabo together as an old crush becomes something much more serious.

The tone is warm but never entirely effortless. These couples are trying to blend households after loss, divorce, or disappointment, and the books make room for the awkward parts. Readers who enjoy heartfelt stories about fathers learning to be present, women creating homes of their own, and children finding security will feel at home here.
