Author bio

Grace Green was born in 1934 in the Highlands of Scotland, and Scotland never really left her books. Even when her stories move elsewhere, there is often a strong sense of place, weather, memory, and old emotional history pressing in on the present.

She later made her home in Vancouver, Canada, with her husband and children, and that move seems to have marked the real beginning of her publishing life. Her fiction suggests a writer who paid close attention to domestic pressure points: guarded men, capable women, children who change everything, and families carrying old hurts into new relationships.

Her first published novel was Black Lace, which appeared in March 1987 under the name Grace Reid. Not long after that, she began publishing as Grace Green, the name romance readers know best, and she built a steady list of category romances from the late 1980s into the early 2000s.

She wrote a lot.

The earlier books show how comfortable she was with high-stakes emotional setups. Tender Betrayal, Risk of the Heart, Winter Destiny, and Love's Dark Shadow all lean into wounded pride, second chances, jealousy, and attraction that refuses to stay in the past. These are compact novels, but the feelings are rarely small.

Later, Green often turned toward stories where romance and family life are tangled together from the start. In His Unexpected Family, The Fatherhood Secret, The Baby Project, Twins Included!, and The Pregnancy Plan, babies, secret fathers, custody worries, and makeshift households are not side plots. They are the engine. Readers who like single-parent stories, surprise parenthood, and couples forced to build trust quickly will probably feel at home there.

Books like A Miracle for Christmas, The Nanny's Secret, and A Husband Worth Waiting For show another part of her style. She liked practical problems. Who will care for the child? Who can be trusted? What happens when grief, memory loss, or an old family feud gets in the way? The romance grows out of those pressures, not around them.

She also contributed to shared miniseries such as Daddy Boom, Baby Boom, Ready for Baby, and Her Protector. That range tells you a lot. One story might be warm and domestic, another might carry a stronger suspense thread, but the emotional center stays much the same: people with private damage trying to build love, home, and a future they can believe in.

That is really her lane.

There is not a huge amount of widely shared public information about her later life, and in some ways that suits the work. The books do the talking. Grace Green wrote direct, emotionally driven romances in which family matters, love is rarely simple, and even a quiet domestic scene can carry real tension.
