Ghosts of Albion Books in Order

Amber Benson and Christopher Golden's Ghosts of Albion is a Victorian supernatural adventure centered on siblings Tamara and William Swift. It began as animated stories and grew into novellas and novels, all set in an alternate nineteenth-century Britain where magic, ghosts, demons, vampires, and werewolves are very real.

Tamara is an aspiring writer with a taste for frightening stories. William is training as an architect. Neither expects to inherit a secret war against the forces threatening their country. But when their grandfather dies violently, they learn that he was one of Albion's Protectors, a guardian of Britain's mystical spirit. The responsibility now falls to them.

They are not ready. They have to become ready.

The Swifts are aided by an unusual group of allies, including the spirits of famous figures from Britain's past and Nigel Townsend, a friend of their family who understands the hidden world. The ghosts are not simply decorative. They are part of the series' idea that history stays present, sometimes helpful, sometimes demanding, and often dangerous.

Victorian England gives the stories their particular flavor. Gaslit streets, old houses, theaters, country estates, and crowded city neighborhoods all become places where something unnatural might be hiding. The series uses the period's rules and class divisions, but it is still built for adventure. Tamara and William investigate eerie events, learn spells, confront monsters, and face enemies who can threaten much more than one family.

The books do not ask the siblings to become identical heroes. Tamara and William have different strengths, fears, and ways of responding to danger. Their relationship is one of the series' anchors. They argue, protect each other, and keep going because they do not have much choice.

Start with Ghosts of Albion: Astray for an early adventure, then continue with Accursed and Witchery. Initiation gathers early material from the wider project, including the scripts for the animated adventures and an additional short story. That makes it more of a companion volume than the cleanest first stop.

Expect gothic atmosphere, creature-filled action, and a young pair of protectors learning that bravery is less about feeling fearless than continuing after the fear arrives. The stakes can be enormous, but the stories remain grounded in family, friendship, and the burden of carrying on someone else's unfinished work.
