Series background & context

Garrett Knox is a former Army Ranger who walked away from military life to lead wilderness expeditions. He wanted a life that helped people in a more direct way and kept him away from the missions that had worn him down. His loyalty to fellow soldiers and his need to uncover the truth make a clean break impossible.

Knox is also an amputee, a fact that is part of his life without being the whole of it. He is resourceful, physically capable, and used to planning around real limits. When a crisis drags him back toward the military world, he brings the skills of a Ranger and the practical knowledge of someone who has learned to adapt.

The wilderness does not forgive bad decisions.

The series sends Knox into remote, punishing environments as he investigates threats with military and scientific edges. The setting matters. Jungle terrain, isolation, difficult travel, and scarce support turn every mission into a survival problem as well as an investigation. He cannot rely on a large team arriving in time to save him.

Knox also faces hard questions about justice. He respects the law, but he knows systems can be slow or compromised when the threat is immediate. Former comrades, old loyalties, and people who believe they are serving a greater cause can make the moral line especially hard to hold.

Begin with 5 Minutes to Die. It introduces Knox after his military career and puts him on a mission shaped by hidden agendas and high stakes. Terminal Threat and Rogue Horizon continue the story, so they are best read in order.

These are outdoor action thrillers with a capable but human lead. Expect survival pressure, conspiracy, tense encounters in difficult country, and a hero who has to decide how far he will go to protect others.
