Fugly Books in Order

The Fugly books are contemporary romances, but they hit a more vulnerable nerve than many of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's lighter titles. At the center is Lily Snow, a woman whose sense of self has been shaped, and badly damaged, by how the world reacts to her appearance. The series is not just about love. It is about shame, confidence, visibility, and the exhausting work of relearning your own worth.

The first book introduces Lily's connection with Maxwell Cole, a wealthy, enigmatic man who sees more in her than she believes exists. The second, It's a Fugly Life, moves into second chances after major life changes, including trauma, recovery, and the hard difference between looking different and feeling whole.

These books are more emotional than goofy.

Pamfiloff still gives the romance real heat, but the stronger through line is Lily's growth. The push and pull with Max matters because it forces both characters to confront the things they have avoided. Readers who want a contemporary series with a little more pain, a little more introspection, and a heroine whose confidence has to be built instead of assumed will probably connect with this one.
