Series background & context

Frostbite is one of Stacey Kennedy's paranormal romance series with a bigger ongoing arc. At the center is Tess Jennings, a woman who can see ghosts, and Kipp McGowan, the dead detective who changes everything for her. From there, the books build into a mix of haunting romance, supernatural mystery, and dangerous otherworld politics.

What makes the series stand out is the emotional setup. This is not just a paranormal romance where magic complicates desire. It is a story about loving someone when life and death are literal barriers, and about deciding how far you would go to pull that person back. Tess is not walking into a magical world as some blank outsider. She is already burdened by what she sees, and Kipp's presence turns that burden into something intimate and urgent.

The world gets wider as the series goes on.

Ghosts are only the beginning. Secret supernatural groups, murder mysteries, demonic threats, and hard bargains all start to crowd in, giving the romance a higher-stakes frame. Even so, the heart of the series stays with Tess and Kipp and the question of whether love can survive a setup this impossible. If you like paranormal romance with one main couple, real continuity between books, and a ghostly premise that turns surprisingly emotional, Frostbite is a strong place to start.
