An eighteen-year-old heads to Colorado to reunite with her mother and ends up living beneath an older landlord everyone calls the fisherman. He is also her new boss, which makes their forbidden attraction even harder to ignore.
Series background & context
The Fisherman books are a tight two-book story, so they work best when you think of them as one long romance split in half. The setup is simple, but the emotional fallout is not.
Book one, The Naked Fisherman, follows a very young heroine who heads to Colorado to reconnect with her mother after years apart. Instead of an easy reunion, she gets a surprise change of plans and winds up staying in the basement rental of the fisherman, the older landlord living upstairs. He is also impossible to ignore, and much too close for comfort. Before long he is not just part of her living situation. He is part of her job and part of every decision she is trying not to make.
That is where the series gets its charge.
The age gap matters here. So does the heroine's inexperience, her strict background, and the way Colorado becomes a place of first freedom, first bad decisions, and first real heartbreak. The books lean into longing, temptation, and the feeling that one summer can change the shape of a life.
The Lost Fisherman picks up years later, after time has done what time always does. It has aged them, bruised them, and changed the story they tell themselves about what happened. That second book turns the duet into more than a forbidden romance. It becomes a second-chance story about whether two people can come back to the place that broke them and still build something real.
Expect angst, heat, and a lot of emotional push and pull. This is not a breezy beach read. It is a coming-of-age romance with consequences.
