The Spark works as a prequel and gives more of Louis Dupris and the early Eterna Commission, while The Eterna Files, Eterna and Omega, and The Eterna Solution expand the scope from secret inquiry to full international crisis. By the final book, the story is not just about who controls Eterna. It is about whether the living world can survive what darker forces are trying to unleash.

This is a conspiracy story, but it is also a grief story.

Hieber likes big casts, and this series rewards readers who enjoy keeping track of interconnected people, motives, and loyalties.
