Endarian Prophecy Books in Order

The Endarian Prophecy is Richard Phillips’s big fantasy series, and it opens with a classic but solid hook: a young woman is marked by an old prophecy, and an ancient enemy wants her dead before she can grow into what she is meant to become. That young woman is Lorness Carol Rafel, the daughter of a warlord, who begins the story wanting to understand magic and ends up carrying the hopes of whole kingdoms.

Carol is the center of the series, but she is not alone for long. Arn, better known early on as Blade, is an assassin with deep ties to her past and a complicated place in her future. Their bond gives the books a steady emotional line even as the plot widens into wars, ancient relics, and rival powers. Around them, Phillips builds a large supporting cast of family members, soldiers, rulers, mages, and allies who are often pulled into danger simply by standing too close to the prophecy.

This is big-quest fantasy, but it stays close to people.

The setting matters a lot here. These books move through strongholds, valleys, borderlands, ports, mountain passes, and battlefields, and the geography is never just decoration. Armies have to cross it, refugees have to survive it, and magic often feels shaped by the old history buried inside it. The world also has a layered magical system, with different branches of power, old scrolls, cursed gifts, necrotic magic, and later a growing focus on visions and time-sight. Phillips keeps the language plain enough that even the larger lore stays readable.

Across Mark of Fire, Prophecy’s Daughter, and Curse of the Chosen, the story tracks Carol’s growth from hunted young noblewoman to someone who can no longer avoid the weight of what she is becoming. Kragan, the ancient mage set against her, is the long-running threat that keeps the whole series moving. He is not just a villain waiting in the background. He is active, ruthless, and always pushing the story toward open conflict. Later books such as The Shattered Trident, The Time Seer, and Prophecy’s End widen that struggle into a hunt for powerful relics and a larger war whose outcome reaches far beyond one household or one city.

Expect battles, travel, uneasy alliances, and a lot of pressure on young people asked to carry very old burdens.

In tone, this series sits closer to fast-moving epic fantasy than to courtly or heavily ornate fantasy. There is romance, but it is tied to survival and loyalty more than swooning. There is magic, but it usually comes with a cost. And there is a constant sense that prophecy is less a gift than a burden no one asked to inherit. If that mix works for you, this is a good series to read in order from the beginning.
