Series background & context
The Dumonts books are a glossy family saga with sharp edges underneath. On the surface, this is a world of Riviera hotels, French fashion money, private suites, beautiful people, and tabloid worthy scandal. Underneath, it is a family story about control, abuse, legacy, and the secrets powerful people expect everyone else to keep.
Each book centers a different romance tied to the Dumont dynasty. One follows Olivier Dumont, the polished heir, and Sadie Reynolds, a young woman from a very different world who gets swept into the family’s luxury and danger. Another moves toward Seraphine and Blaise, where old history and forbidden desire make the atmosphere much riskier. The final book gives Pascal, who begins as the family’s most difficult problem, a surprising path toward redemption.
That changing focus is what makes the series work. You are not just watching one couple fight their way through trouble. You are watching the same rotten foundation affect different people in different ways. Some grew up inside it. Some are pulled in from outside. Some still do not know how much damage the family has done.
The setting helps too. These books really do lean into the fantasy of wealth, fashion, estates, and travel, but Halle does not let the glamour hide the rot for long. The more beautiful the surroundings, the more unsettling the secrets feel.
If you like family drama in your romance, this series has plenty of it. It is luxurious, messy, and full of characters who have to decide whether love can survive a dynasty built on silence, manipulation, and old sins.
