Series background & context

Dragon's Gap is Lacee's big paranormal fantasy world, and the hook is simple: dragons are not alone anymore. Shifters, witches, faeries, elves, and other magical beings keep colliding inside one growing community, and each new arrival changes the balance. The series opens with Reighn and Sage's Story, where Dragon Lord Reighn finally finds Sage, a half witch and half wolf who upends both his life and the future of dragon kind.

The town is the real main character.

Dragon's Gap is not just a backdrop or a handy place for magical people to gather. It is a fortress, a sanctuary, a family center, and sometimes a battleground. Characters keep arriving there hurt, hunted, orphaned, confused, or furious, and the books are often about what happens after rescue. Who belongs. Who is trusted. Who gets a second chance. And how a town built around old hierarchies learns to make room for new people and new rules.

Each main book follows a different couple, but the larger story keeps rolling forward. Sharm and Edith's Story brings in Edith, a bear shifter with unusual gifts, and folds her into the King's family. Storm and Charlie's Story pushes two battle-hardened characters into caring for children. Ash and Olinda's Story adds more myth and mystery, while Ace and Harper's Story leans into family mess, danger, and faerie complications. Thorn and Ciana's Story widens the world again with moon elves and old secrets, and Ocean and Conor's Story carries the longer arc onward.

That structure gives the series a roomy, soap-operatic feel in the best sense. Couples matter, but so do siblings, children, adopted relatives, elders, side characters, and the politics of the whole community. Reighn and Sage stay important, yet the spotlight keeps shifting, so the world feels lived in rather than locked to just one pair.

Tone matters here too. These books are paranormal romance, but they also like humor, domestic chaos, busy households, and scenes where magic and family life overlap in odd ways. A child can trigger a major plot turn. A holiday can become a community crisis. A rescue mission can end with new parents, new siblings, or a fresh political headache. The novellas and holiday books, including A Christmas Surprise and The Christmas Star, lean into that warmth even more.

At the core, Dragon's Gap is about building a safe place in a dangerous world. The external threats change, but the emotional stakes stay steady: protect the young, hold the family together, make room for the outcast, and do not let fear decide who gets to belong. If you like fantasy romance with a large cast, lots of magical species, and an ongoing sense of community, this is the series that shows Lacee at her most expansive.
