Series background & context

The Desires Duet is Molly Doyle's two-book dark romance about Sasha Pierce and Jaxon Edwards. It starts with Dominant Desires, when Sasha's life has been knocked badly off course and she is trying to survive in New York City. Jaxon enters with an offer that sounds simple on paper: pose as his fiancée and live with him for six months in return for enough money to change her circumstances.

Of course, the deal is not simple for long.

Jaxon is wealthy, private, and used to controlling the terms of his life. Sasha is drawn to him, but she is also wary of the world he is asking her to enter. Their arrangement brings her into an adult lifestyle shaped by rules, power exchange, and boundaries she has not had to navigate before. The romance is deliberately intense, and the imbalance in their starting positions is part of the tension.

The first book is about the pull of the bargain itself. Sasha has practical reasons to say yes, but the emotional stakes rise as she gets closer to Jaxon and starts to see what he keeps hidden. The fake engagement setup gives the story a public role for them to play, while their private relationship becomes much harder to define. Readers should expect a possessive hero, a heroine trying to regain control of her own future, and a relationship tested by secrecy.

Dark Desires picks up the story rather than moving on to a new couple. Sasha and Jaxon have to deal with the damage left by betrayal, the weight of past trauma, and revelations that change how Sasha sees the relationship. It is a continuation, not a standalone follow-up, so reading Dominant Desires first matters.

The duet stays close to its central pair. It is less interested in building a large outside world than in putting Sasha and Jaxon under emotional pressure, then asking whether they can be honest enough to choose each other. The mood is dramatic, steamy, and angsty, with romance and suspense moving side by side.

These are adult books with dark themes and sexual content. The appeal is the push and pull between a woman whose choices have narrowed and a man who offers security while bringing complications of his own. Readers who enjoy fake relationships that turn real, emotionally guarded heroes, and romances that continue across more than one book will find the clearest path here: begin with Dominant Desires, then continue straight into Dark Desires.
