Series background & context

Dark World: The Vampire Wish begins with Annika, a human girl whose ordinary life ends the night vampires murder her parents and drag her into the hidden kingdom of the Vale. The Vale is a secret vampire realm sealed off from Earth, where humans exist as blood slaves and the vampire elite rule behind enchanted walls.

At first, Annika’s only goal is survival. As a brand‑new blood slave, she has to navigate cruel masters, deadly politics, and the constant threat of the wolves that prowl outside the barriers. When she befriends a mysterious stranger who calls himself Jake, she finally sees a glimmer of hope — someone who might help her escape.

That hope twists into something far more complicated when she discovers Jake is actually Jacen, the vampire prince. Betrayed and left for dead, Annika swears revenge. Her chance comes when she gains control of a magical ring containing Geneva, the most powerful witch in the world, and uses that power to disguise herself as a vampire princess and enter a competition to win Jacen’s hand.

The series blends palace intrigue, secret identities, and an enemies‑to‑lovers romance as Annika plays the role of would‑be vampire bride while secretly plotting to destroy the queen who rules the Vale. Along the way she uncovers startling truths about her own heritage, including a connection to the Nephilim, and learns that the fate of more than one kingdom may rest on her choices.

Later books pull the camera back from the palace to reveal a wider conflict involving vampire politics, rebellious wolves, and a demon determined to start a supernatural war. The quest for the Holy Grail, ancient prophecies, and the question of how far Annika is willing to go for freedom and love keep the tension high to the very end.

There’s also a prequel novella that follows Jacen before he ever becomes a prince, showing how a human golden boy with Olympic dreams ends up dragged into the Vale and remade as royalty.

If you enjoy hidden kingdoms, morally gray royals, and a heroine who claws her way from captive to power player, The Vampire Wish offers a complete, bingeable arc that also lays groundwork for other Dark World stories.
