That setup is the whole point.

She is imprisoned, accused of terrible crimes, and pushed to confess to things she cannot remember. Around her are three alpha men tied to the prison itself, an officer, a priest, and a warden, each with his own kind of darkness. Attraction is there from the start, but it is tangled up with fear, coercion, secrets, and the sense that something ancient is moving underneath the surface of the story.

As the books go on, the prison becomes more than a setting. It is a pressure chamber for identity, guilt, and power. The heroine is not just trying to survive punishment. She is also trying to understand the wolf spirit inhabiting her, the truth of the accusations against her, and whether the men around her want to save her, control her, or both.
