Dark Age Dawning is a post-apocalyptic paranormal romance trilogy written by Ann Aguirre and Carrie Lofty under the name Ellen Connor. It begins when the modern world falls apart, leaving survivors to face a broken power grid, scarce resources, violent threats, and changes that are not entirely natural.

In Nightfall, Jenna has spent years dismissing her father's warnings about the end of the world. Then Mason, an ex-Marine who owes her father a debt, takes her to a remote Pacific Northwest cabin just before the catastrophe begins. Jenna does not trust him, and she has good reasons to resist being told what to do.

The world ends. The arguments do not.

As the trilogy continues through Midnight and Daybreak, the cast has to form a community while dealing with mutated predators, supernatural forces, and the practical dangers of a world without reliable institutions. The romances matter, but survival is a group problem. Food, shelter, protection, and trust all have to be rebuilt.

The Pacific Northwest setting gives the books forests, winter weather, isolated cabins, and plenty of room for threats to hide.
