I Dare You

by Shantel Tessier

2018

New girl Austin Lowes moves in with her distant father and stumbles onto the Sharks, a ruthless group of boys who control their school. Their leader, Cole, drags her into a violent game of dares where obsession, secrets, and real bloodshed blur every line.

Series background & context

The Dare books drop you into a small town where a handful of wealthy boys rule the high school hallways. They call themselves the Sharks, and for them power is a game built on dares, secrets, and carefully calculated fear.

It all starts when Austin Lowes moves in with her distant father, hoping to coast through her senior year and escape. Instead she crosses paths with Cole Reynolds, the golden boy with a devil’s streak who decides she’ll be the next player in his private game.

Cole and his friends use dares to control everyone around them—teachers, classmates, and especially the girls they pull into their orbit. What begins as humiliating tasks and psychological warfare keeps escalating, and the line between teenage cruelty and real violence blurs fast.

Their world runs on power, and power is easiest to hold when everyone else is afraid to look too closely.

Across the series you see different sides of that world. Austin learns how far she’ll bend before she breaks, and whether the boy who destroys her can also be the one who stands beside her when the truth comes out. Later books shift the focus to other Sharks, showing how loyalty, obsession, and revenge play out when the rules of the game no longer feel safe even to the people who created it.

These stories are brutally dark bully romances, heavy on obsession, toxic friendships, and morally gray choices. They are best read in order, since each book peels back another layer of the same twisted dare that started it all.
