Series background & context

Crimson Point Protectors expands the Crimson Point world by leaning harder into close protection, personal danger, and the professionals who step in when a threat gets too close. If the original Crimson Point books are about danger reaching home, this spinoff is often about who stands between home and disaster.

The series keeps the same connected-world appeal Cross does so well. Familiar places and overlapping characters help it feel rooted in the larger Crimson Point setting, but the focus shifts toward bodyguards, security specialists, and assignments that get messy because feelings are involved long before the danger is resolved.

Books like Falling Hard, Cornered, Sudden Impact, and Unsanctioned make the tone pretty clear. These are romantic suspense stories where the pressure comes from being watched, hunted, boxed in, or forced to rely on someone you may not fully trust yet. Protective Impulse shows that especially well, pairing a woman under threat with a bodyguard who knows getting personally involved is a bad idea and does it anyway.

What makes the series work is the mix of connected-town comfort and real suspense momentum. The characters may be in a familiar world, but the cases are not soft. Cross still brings stalking, murder, hidden enemies, and emotional fallout into the picture. The protectors are good at their jobs, but they are not immune to mistakes or old wounds.

If you liked Crimson Point and wanted more of the security side of that world, this spinoff gives it to you. It is connected, readable, and built around one of Cross's favorite questions, what happens when protection stops being professional and turns personal?
