Series background & context

These stories begin with a woman's reputation under threat. Usually she has been compromised by deceit, rumor, or a trap laid by someone else, but on the western frontier that distinction does not always help her.

That gives the romances real urgency. The heroine needs safety, respectability, and often plain physical protection. The hero has to decide whether he will believe the worst or stand beside her. Tanner uses singers, travelers, and vulnerable young women to keep the setups varied while the emotional core stays the same.

If you enjoy western romance where social danger matters as much as physical danger, this series is a strong example.
