Deepwater Dungeon

by Ryan Rimmel

2022

A prank on a sunny beach accidentally wakes a crab into full awareness and grants him access to a System. Renamed Sir Crabby, he plunges into a vast undersea dungeon where monsters, magic, and a missing girl pull him into a much larger conflict.

Series background & context

Chronicles of Sir Crabby takes many of the game mechanics fans know from Noobtown and dunks them under the sea. Instead of a human protagonist, the series starts with an ordinary beach crab whose life is upended when a young girl’s prank goes wrong and he is jolted into full awareness.

In Deepwater Dungeon that crab wakes to find he has a name, Sir Crabby, along with access to a System that tracks his levels, skills, and stats. He is dragged away from the shore and into a sprawling underwater dungeon filled with strange creatures, hostile monsters, and hints of a much larger conflict. At the same time he is desperate to find the girl who accidentally changed him, and that search pushes him deeper into the maze.

The world of Arthos is not just a set of rooms and corridors. Outside the dungeon walls there is an ancient struggle between the monsters who live below and a creeping force simply called corruption, a kind of rot that twists everything it touches. Sir Crabby’s new powers pull him straight into that war, even though he would prefer to focus on songs, shiny loot, and keeping his shell intact.

The tone mixes slapstick comedy with genuine peril, so a scene can swing from musical jokes to life-or-death tentacle fights in just a few pages.

Incursion City widens the scope even further. After escaping the original dungeon, Sir Crabby finds that the undersea war has moved to new battlegrounds, and that the fate of entire regions rests on whether the monsters or the corrupted forces win. The gods of Arthos are paying attention, rival factions are forming around him, and his choices start to matter on a scale far beyond one awakened crustacean.

Across the series you can expect familiar LitRPG touchstones, level ups, new abilities, and clever uses of the System, but filtered through a hero who has claws instead of thumbs. Chronicles of Sir Crabby is a good fit if you like offbeat protagonists, ocean settings, and stories where comedy and cosmic stakes exist side by side.
